Crestron Software Downloads
The previous guy never touched anything and just called a vendor to do everything. I'd like to be able to do some stuff, but I can't find a link on Crestron's site to download the Crestron Toolbox. Seems you have to be a partner or reseller to get it. Anybody know where/how to get the Crestron Toolbox software?
You could get an enterprise contract with Crestron and piss off your vendor because he'll be forced to give you preferential pricing, and you'll get access to toolbox and whatnot. If you have that many devices on your network, you should consider some sort of management, like Roomview or Fusion, or at the very least have the vendor add SNMP support.all of these things are pretty non-trivial, and will be pricey, since it may (depending on how the rooms are programmed) add some hefty code rewrites. Become an enterprise partner through their website. I have been one for over five years now and have taken advantage of many of the free course offerings.
You'll also get access to Simpl Windows which is the tool you use to program the control processors. Start asking all your vendors for the uncompiled code.
Adding room view symbols is very straight forward. I installed my own instance of fusion and manage about 80 conference rooms with it. I sleep comfortably knowing that my equipment gets shut of at night if someone leaves it on by accident. It's also great for digital signage, off at night, on in the morning. PM me if you have any specific questions. I'm in the northeast and can put you in touch with my Crestron contact from the enterprise partner program.
What is Crestron Toolbox Application? Crestron Toolbox is a diagnostics and maintenance program for Crestron device systems and Cresnet networks. The software is capable of running several administrative system maintenance operations, from network ID setting to diagnosing possible system issues. The diagnostic tools of the program include a SIMPL debugging utility that is capable of simulating system device inputs through a virtual interface, as well as a voltage level sampler that can test levels on connected Cresnet wiring to check for faults in network cables or hardware.
The program also comprises the MediaTools utilities, which help users set up and diagnose Crestron-range media devices and processors. Audio and video adjustment through multiple settings and configuration selections are possible through the MediaTools applications, and users also get access to real-time effects for audio systems so that they can instantly see (or hear, more precisely) the results of their selections. The Crestron Toolbox program is available for Windows 2003, Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista and Windows 7 computers, with 32-bit and 64-bit support for the latter three systems.
