Vcds Usb Interface Not Found
I use the same interface (AUTEL) as shown in the picture. The error you mentioned is because you have not changed the com port in the USB software to be the same one that is used in the VAG-COM software. When you change the port setting it will work. It also works with VAG-COM version 4.09 software. I think from memory that the port changing is under the advanced settings.
If you cannot find it, post again and I will check it out on my laptop. Also see my post in this thread about the same problem: Hope this helps Dougal. I have changed virtual comport to 1, and pointed Vag-Com to that same port. Thats why I get message Port ok, no interface.
I am trying to use this cable on Vag-Com 4091 version. Should I downgrade it. So I did configure my port to match on settings and vag-com, it must be something else. I did some reaserch. These blue cables are actialy have COM to USB internal adapter made by company FTDI. This is same hardware used for original Vag-com cable. Only difference is that they use dll to access USB, and this is spose to use virtual Comport to access USB.
What dirvers did you install. Was it from AUTEL page. I got some drivers on CD, and also update from FTDI page but no luck. Please help, I am getting upsate that this does not work. STEP 1: Install Ross-Tech VCDS Software. DO NOT plug VAG-COM cable into computer yet. Uninstall any other VCDS versions, if present on computer. Then delete c. OR it may show as 'Ross-Tech Direct USB Interface'. 3) Right-click on this device with the yellow mark » Update Driver Software. I know in the 'documentation' ( filename: 'VAG.COM 409.2 USB Driver Installation Instructions.doc' ) it says that '(It is not necessary to connect the interface to a car yet)' but the Intructions are talking about the 'HEX-USB' interface from ross-tech. Those instructions are not about this 'serial passthrough' interface.

Hello all,I bought a cheap VAGcom cable, off ebay, and am struggling to get it to work. It came with a mini CD so I (copied it to a USB stick as well as VCDS Lite from Ross Tech) put it on my netbook.
I ran the exe file Release4091us.exe which seemed to install a VAGcom programme. When I plug the lead into the computer the usual windows messages pop up about a new device and installing drivers, so I browse for the c: Program Files Vag Com folder but it doesn't find the drivers. When I open VAG-Com Release 409-1 and go to options and select USB and click Test it doesn't work (obviously). Add arabic language to windows xp sp3 download.
I also installed VCDS Lite, and noticed that this doesn't have a USB option. Please help, it's getting frustrating, I thought it would be a case of install drivers from disc, then install VCDS Lite and Bob's yer uncle, but no! To what I bought on ebay. It comes with a CD that has a folder in it called Drivers, the only.exe file in there is to uninstall the drivers. By going to Device Manager it shows up in Ports (COM & LPT), so by reinstalling the driver and then browsing to the CD it installs something and in Device Manager it now shows up as USB Serial Port (Com 3. Going to VCDS Lite I select Com 3 and click test and it says Port Status OK, Interface Not found.

Did you have the cable connected to the car with the ignition on? If not, that is likely to be your problem. Ok I am in car now with lead plugged in and ignition on and it seems to work! When I run an Auto Scan it says: (and also says at the end Sorry This function requires VCDS Lite to be registered and activated.
